I once heard John Carlton, the great copywriter and marketer, say something that has stuck with me to this day.

He said that the average person is bored out of their mind.

He says that the average person gets out of bed bored, eats a boring breakfast, gets into a boring car, takes a boring commute to a his boring job, works with boring people, eats a boring lunch, takes another boring drive back home, eats a boring dinner, etc and repeats this cycle every single day.

Although what he says seems simple, it’s really ironic how true it is. Once you understand this concept, it becomes fairly simple to connect with your prospect, build a relationship, and make them your customer.

All we have to do is become that once person in their day that’s NOT BORING.

Out of all the boring emails your prospect receives in a day, yours has to be the one that stands out,the one that isn’t boring.

While everyone else seems not to care about your prospect and doesn’t pay him any attention, you have to be the one that shows interest in him, gives him attention, and shows that you care about him. You have to do this through your communications, whether through email, video, or a phone conversation.

Once you do this, and you provide solutions for his problems, you will have a loyal customer FOR LIFE.

And it doesn’t matter what niche you are in. Whether you are a network marketer, internet marketer, or you own a traditional business, this concept will work wonders.

It seems like a very obvious and simple concept, but it’s the very same concept that all the successful home business owners use. The more people you can connect with in this way, the more customers you will have, and the more money you will make.

If you master the art of breaking the boring day bubble of your prospect, you will never have to work a job again.

I recently read about a study that proved that multitasking lowers your IQ more than smoking weed.

I knew multitasking was bad for productivity, but I didn’t know it was THAT BAD.

The sad thing is that we ALL multitask. This is because we live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with several “things” that demand our attention. From text messages to emails, we are always forced to do many things at once.

We are constantly interrupted and distracted by several things throughout the day.

I guess this is why multitasking seems like the right thing to do. If you are talking on the phone and you need to check your email, it seems logical to do both at the same time.

However, if multitasking lowers our IQ more than smoking pot, it’s definitely not the right thing to do.

There is another study that shows that it takes 15 - 30 minutes to fully recover from an interruption.

As a home business owner, this means that every time you are working and you decide to check your email or check your “stats”, it will take you 15 - 30 minutes to recover and get fully focused on your work again.

It’s scary if you think about the time you have wasted in the past trying to multitask.

I think multitasking is one of the biggest reasons why home business owners don’t get the results they want in their businesses.

By simply stopping yourself from multitasking, you will increase your personal productivity and improve your income.

However, it’s almost impossible to completely eliminate multitasking from your life, so start small.

Your first step could be working for 1 hour every day WITHOUT ANY INTERRUPTIONS.

This means that during the 1 hour period, you need to turn off your cell phone, email alerts, IM, TV, etc, and focus only on ONE THING. Do not allow yourself to be interrupted during the entire period.

This is a great time management strategy and it will improve your personal productivity.

You will be surprised at how much you will get done by focusing for 1 hour without any interruptions. In fact, you will see better results by working for 1 hour without interruptions than working for 10 hours with interruptions.

Try it and let me know what happens. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

So, I’m back in school….But not exactly.

The school semester hasn’t started yet, but I’m back for Residential Advisor (RA) training.

For my last year of school, I decided to be an RA, which basically means I supervise students living in the dorms and make sure everything runs smoothly for them.

We get trained for about 2 weeks before the students arrive. At first, I was bummed because it meant less time to work on my internet business, but the training has surprisingly been cool.

I’ve reworked my schedule so that I wake up a few hours early to work on my business. It was hard at first but I’m used to it now.

I also JUST launched a product for one of my niches (unrelated to home business), so I’ve been busy driving traffic and split testing my website. FUN STUFF!

Testing is SO important. I used to hate it but I actually like doing it now because:

Constant Testing = Constantly Increasing Conversions = Constantly Increasing Sales

If I want to be financially free by the time I graduate college, it’s something that I have to do.

I’m also applying what I’m learning from John Reese ’s Traffic Secrets 2.0 course (GREAT course by the way), to drive traffic to the website.

That’s all I have for today.

Take care and have a great week.

I attended the Gateway To Wealth seminar in Orlando this past weekend. It was kind of last minute, and one of the main reasons why I attended the event was because Mike Filsaime said he would be there.

Mike is one of the top internet marketers in the industry and his businesses do over $10 million every year. I got to talk to him for about 5 minutes, and it turns out that he is a pretty cool dude. He was very down to earth and gave me tons of advice for my business.

He is one of the few marketers who genuinely cares about others and focuses on delivering massive value to them. I have only been on his email list for about a month now, but I have received more value from him than I do from most other marketers.

I also got to meet and network with other cool people during the seminar.

I also watched “The Dark Night”, the new Batman movie while I was in Orlando. It was a great movie, but I fell asleep about 3/4 through the movie because I was so tired from the seminar earlier in the day.

I think I fell asleep right when the Joker was about be taken out. I need to watch the movie again…

All in all, it was a great weekend. It’s back to business now, and school is ALMOST around the corner, which isn’t too exciting.

I learnt that walking around with a camera filming yourself during seminars tends to attract interviews from other people. Here, I interview a home business owner who is doing really well. His name is Nate Rifkin and he is only 22 years old.

I met Darrell a few months ago at Mike Dillard’s Traffic Formula workshop. I ran into him again a few weeks later at Eben Pagan ’s seminar, and he agreed to do an interview.

He’s a cool dude, and a very motivated individual. In this interview, he shares his views on the seminar, among other things.

He is the least celebrated network marketer in the industry. He doesn’t know it, and it takes a while for him to realize it. By the time it hits him, this is what his life looks like…

Most of his compatriots have failed, quit, and gone back to their normal lives. On the other hand, a select few have gone on to live the lives of their dreams.

More than anything, he wants success. He is willing to do whatever it takes to get there.

But he keeps struggling, and failing…

He never quits. He doesn’t know the meaning of the word. It is not in his vocabulary.

Day after day, month after month, year after year, he does everything exactly as he’s been told to by his upline leaders. He is dead broke, financially, emotionally, and physically.

He has made countless sacrifices, but he still doesn’t see any success.

The world keeps knocking him down every day. Yet, devastating blow after devastating blow, he keeps getting up.

He knows that it’s not how many times you fall, but how many times you get up. He also knows that it’s not just how many times you get up, but what you pick up while you’re getting up.

He has spent every last penny he owns, and spent countless hours listening to training audios and videos. He has made the extra effort to attend all the training sessions, company meetings and events. He has sacrificed everything to be successful in the MLM industry.

He has been laughed at, rejected, and avoided. He has even lost some family and friends along the way.

But he keeps trotting on…

They say a strong man’s face is full of scars. A network marketer’s ENTIRE BEING is full of scars.

He has made a decision to succeed. He can look everybody dead in the eye and tell them that he is going to succeed, whether they like it or not. No ifs, ends, or buts… And he means it with all his heart.

But he STILL struggles to find the success he desires…

He is proud of who he is and what he stands for, because there is no one else like him in this world.

Who else is committed to growing daily and becoming a better person? Who else genuinely cares about other people and wishes to help as many of them as possible? Who else sees the positive in everything, while the rest of the world sees the negative in everything?

If you are still reading this article, you are most likely this person, and if there’s one thing you remember from reading this article, remember this.

In network marketing;

Leadership = Mindset + Skillset + Heartset

Think about it. REALLY think about it…

You already have the right mindset, and your heart is set in the right place. You already have two-thirds of equation figured out. With the mindset and heartset in place, all you need to do is develop your skillset, which will happen with time.

Learn from those that have already made it. Watch them, be around them, and be mentored by them.

If that’s not possible, learn from their work. Read their books and courses, and attend their seminars. This will greatly shorten your learning curve.

Never hesitate to invest in your education. As every leader grows, they spend more on their education. You could be one book, course, seminar, or training away from success.

You are the future of this amazing industry known as network marketing. You are the future leader of the world. You will eventually influence the lives of thousands, possibly millions of people across the globe. You will also form friendships that you never thought possible and you will forever change the future of your family tree.

Every day is a step forward. Just put one foot in front of the other. Do this every day and you will write your own success story. Make your story the best story ever written.

You can do it. You are the author, you hold the pen, and it’s YOUR story. Life is not a sprint, it is a marathon. Success is a journey, not a destination.

I’ve been hearing about Twitter for months. Everyone has been raving about how cool it is, and how much traffic they’re getting from it.

I’m usually a bit skeptical when I hear about the next great web 2.0 traffic generation strategy”, so it took me a while before I actually checked out the website.

First impressions can be deceiving. At first glance, Twitter looks like an old-school, ghetto-website.

Really, there’s nothing special about the way it looks. There’s no fancy flash graphics or videos, and the website looks very plain and boring, kind of like the websites I make.

Anyway, wondering what the fuss was all about, I signed up just to see what it was like.

This is how it works.

In Twitter, you ‘follow others’ and others ‘follow you’. You pick who to follow, and vice versa.

It’s basically a way to let other people know what you are up to. You do this by sending a very brief message, called a tweet, to your ‘followers’ from your computer or your cell phone.

It’s kind of like sending a text message.

It seems boring at first, but it gets addictive, especially when you are following a bunch of cool people.

There are some big-name marketers on Twitter, and getting to know their day to day activities is very interesting. Some of them are really cool people.

It gets even better when they start following you, and get to know what YOU are up to.

I still haven’t started testing and tweaking Twitter for ways to get traffic, but right now I’m just enjoying the whole thing.

Check it out if you haven’t already.

As they say, follow me on Twitter !

It’s been raining like crazy in Florida this past week. This has given me the excuse to stay indoors and finish up a big project I’ve been working on for the past month or so.

Today, I decided to do some email sorting. I usually let my emails pile up for a while (a few weeks), before I sort them and delete the ones I don’t want.

While I was doing this, I started getting frustrated. 30 minutes in, and I still wasn’t anywhere close to finishing the task.

So, I got mad, and decided to do something I’ve never done before.

I deleted ALL the messages in my inbox.I also unsubscribed myself from most of the ‘lists’ I was on.

I was on so many internet marketer’s lists that I would get dozens of emails everyday that I never opened.

I only stayed subscribed to the few marketers that give me value in every email.

It was such a refreshing feeling to have ZERO emails in my inbox, and all my other important emails sorted out in categories. Before this, I had at least 1000 emails in my inbox everyday.

That was my spring cleaning…in summer.

You should try it too, because most of the emails you get in a given day, you don’t even read. You should also unsubscribe from all the lists that send you emails that you rarely open.

It’s such a refreshing feeling…

This is a video I shot at the end of the Guru MasterClass Customer Summit. You can tell that I’m dead tired (I’m almost falling asleep!)

It was 3 days of intense learning, and we went from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M. with very few breaks, almost every day.

I’m just sharing my biggest takes from the event.

Oh, and Eben Pagan shows up somewhere in the video. Can you spot him?
